OvoScope AI

AI-Powered Egg Inspection and Quality Control System

OvoScope AI is an AI-powered egg inspection system that combines high-speed cameras, specialized lighting and image processing to evaluate egg surface and quality characteristics. Integrated into BG Makina egg handling lines, it detects and classifies defined quality conditions while maintaining synchronized egg flow through the grader.

OvoScope AI

AI-Powered Egg Inspection and Quality Control System

OvoScope AI is a new-generation egg detector that combines high-speed camera technology, a special lighting system and AI-powered image analysis to inspect the surface and quality characteristics of eggs with high precision. It evaluates dirt, cracks, breaks, shell deformation, color, feathers, blood spots and other surface features individually, then classifies eggs by the operator's quality criteria and directs them to the right outlet.

Smart Imaging

Designed to See Every Detail of the Egg

OvoScope AI's imaging system combines high-quality cameras, specially positioned light sources and laser-assisted illumination. This special lighting architecture directs light as precisely as possible onto the egg area alone.

As each egg rotates along the grader's rollers, it is imaged from different angles. Instead of judging an egg from a single photo, OvoScope AI uses the egg's movement and rotation to capture 4 different images per egg, which are analyzed by a pre-trained AI model.

Dirt Analysis 02
Dirt Analysis

Evaluates Dirt Level and Distribution

OvoScope AI does more than a simple "clean" or "dirty" classification. Beyond detecting dirt on the egg, it evaluates the level of soiling and its distribution across the surface: surface dirt, heavily soiled areas, marks on the shell, feathers and stuck feathers, blood spots and other surface anomalies.

The operator can define which features are separated and which group they are sent to, based on the facility's quality criteria.

Broken & Cracked 03
Broken & Cracked

Advanced Crack and Breakage Analysis

OvoScope AI can evaluate shell integrity across multiple categories: normal cracks, hidden cracks, cracks barely visible to the eye, shell dents, shell holes, damaged or torn membranes, leaking breaks, running breaks, burst eggs and other shell deformations.

This lets the operation create separate quality groups by crack type instead of a single "broken egg" category.

  • Shell Dent / Hole
Color Analysis 04
Color Analysis

Separation by Color and Tone Groups

OvoScope AI analyzes not only defects but also the egg's color characteristics. It can separate white, brown and other colors, and analyze brown tones in detail to create groups such as light, medium and dark brown.

This is a major advantage in operations handling eggs from different flocks or working to different color standards.

Dimensions & Weight 05
Dimensions & Weight

Off-Grade Separation Without Extra Equipment

One of OvoScope AI's biggest advantages is its ability to estimate an egg's volume — and from it, its weight — using image analysis data. Under suitable conditions the system can achieve weight estimation accuracy of around ±2 grams.

Undersized, oversized, non-standard or out-of-range eggs can also be detected. This gives the operation AI-powered off-grade separation on the existing line, without investing in an additional grading machine.

  • ±2 g Weight Estimation
  • Off-Grade Separation
  • No Extra Machine Needed
Modular Speed 06
Modular Speed

10,000 Eggs / Hour / Lane

OvoScope AI is designed to work alongside high-speed egg grading machines. Each imaging lane can inspect up to 10,000 eggs per hour, and the system can be configured in 6, 9 or 12-lane modules to match the grader: 60,000 eggs/hour with 6 lanes, 90,000 with 9, 120,000 with 12.

Decision criteria are configured to the operation's needs: the operator defines which dirt levels, crack types, color groups and weight ranges are separated. The AI analyzes the image; the business sets the criteria.

  • 6 / 9 / 12 Lanes, Modular
  • Up to 120,000 e/h

From Conventional Detectors to AI

Flexible Quality Control with Multi-Feature Analysis

While conventional systems mostly focus on detecting a few predefined defects, OvoScope AI is an image analysis system that evaluates the egg across multiple characteristics. Where the traditional approach is "See → Detect → Separate", OvoScope AI works as "See → Analyze → Classify → Decide → Separate".

Images captured of every egg are analyzed by a pre-trained AI model. The resulting data can be used in quality control and classification criteria.
